Submission Guidelines

Posting to Wordscape Fiction is generally by invitation, however we do accept submissions from writers interested in posting to the site, subject to approval by members of The Bardic Circle writer's list.

If you would like to submit a story or poem for posting, please email it to The Bardic Circle

Stories and poems can be submitted as text based documents ie. word/wordperfect/rtf and HTML documents. Please send work as an attachment, NOT as an inclusion in the body of an email.

When submitting work for consideration, please make sure that you include the following:

  • the title and author
  • a disclaimer containing rating codes, and any other relevant information
  • please include within your disclaimer a date when you wrote/sent the piece (for copyright purposes)
  • a very short synopsis or "teaser" of the piece (say 2 lines)
  • author commentary (see below)

Please also have a look at our writing categories and see where yours fits best. If you don't tell me, I'll just stick you in Love & Romance <g>

Author commentaries:

We want this site to be different from other anthology pages, and as it is for and by writers and sponsored by our writer's group, we would like to have commentary on the writing of each piece by the author. Not just the story synopsis, but also background notes on its creation or insights from the author. We hope that this will also encourage more people to visit the site, and even reread older pieces with a new eye.

Please feel free to write your own commentary, or if you'd like a bit of guidance, here are some questions that might prompt you:

  • What prompted you to write this particular story?
  • Where did you get the inspiration from - your own life, or from your own imagination etc?
  • In your opinion, what works about the story?
  • What doesn't work so well?
  • What makes this story stand out for you?
  • What were the technical difficulties in pulling it off?
  • What do you think would make people read this story?
  • Any anecdotes associated with its creation?
