The anthology is being sold to raise money for Medecine Sans Frontiers, so it's an excellent cause. 'Girl' is a piece about gender; written from the vantage point of a gay woman whose appearance does not fit the usual 'norm.' It deals with some of the boundaries that structure even marginalised communities, exploring the struggle to achieve self-acceptance in the face of prejudice.
